Scott Galloway

Born in Medowie near Newcastle and raised on farms in the Maitland area Scott was riding cattle and horses at a very young age. At 11 Scott started riding trackwork and in no time at all he had ridden over 50 winners throughout New South Wales.

Scott started his apprenticeship at Cessnock under champion Jockey Robert Thompson's father Arthur. During this time Scott gained invaluable experience and in doing so he won a Newcastle apprentices title as well as riding winners in the very competitive Sydney market for the likes of the late Max Lees.

Scott moved to Queensland and finished his apprenticeship with John Wallace at the Gold Coast. Following a short stint in Macau immediately after coming out of his time Scott joined forces with leading trainer Alan Bailey. This partnership proved a great success with Galloway enjoying no less than 4 Gold Coast Jockeys premiership.

Galloway's hard work and natural ability didn't go unnoticed by some of the leading trainers in Brisbane with the likes of Gerald Ryan and Bruce McLachlan securing his services throughout the year and during carnival time.

The Gerald Ryan trained Magnier gave Galloway his first major success by winning the Group 2 Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm.

John Hawkes certainly noticed Galloway's potential by securing the hoop as stable rider for the Queensland operation of the all conquering Ingham brothers.

Following great success with the Hawkes Stable Galloway now rides freelance and being a natural lightweight Scott's services have been in great demand.
